Adam Humphries (WR, TB) - Week 8 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14-Team PPR Leagues

OWNED IN: 13% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: Due to a highly unfortunate Uber ride, Jameis Winston didn't make a start for Tampa Bay until week four of the 2018 season when his suspension was up. It just so happens that week four is also when Adam Humphries started to put the pedal to the metal after his slow start to the year. While Winston has had issues with turnovers thus far, he has put up a combined 760 passing yards over the last two weeks, and Humphries has started to reap the rewards of that production. From week one through week three, he averaged just 2.33 receptions on four targets for an underwhelming 21.67 receiving yards per game with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center. Since then, Humphries has seen way more action to a highly-improved tune of 4.33 receptions out of 6.33 targets for 51.67 yards per contest.

One significant drawback for Adam Humphries appears to be his red-zone use. With deep-threats like DeSean Jackson and huge power forward-like targets like Mike Evans and O.J. Howard to compete with, he has seen just a single target within the red-zone to this point in the year, not to mention just five receptions on nine targets when the Bucs are inside opponent territory. Even still, his recent three-week string of moderate success has catapulted Humphries to fourth on the Tampa Bay roster in targets and is tied for fourth on the team in receptions. While Winston absolutely has his go-to scoring threats when he takes the field, it seems clear that he has found ample use for Adam Humphries since his return. With the volume of yardage that Winston has been passing for, that makes Humphries a sneaky option to keep an eye on in deeper PPR leagues.
