J.B. Holmes Posts Top-10 at Safeway Open
6 years agoJ.B. Holmes posted his first top-10 result in four months at the Safeway Open, finishing in ninth place. Holmes had been exhibiting poor form recently and had not recorded a top-45 result in his previous six tournaments. While the 84th-ranked player in the world hopes this will get him back on track to begin his 2019 season, one could argue that Holmes may have underachieved with his finishing position. Coming into the event as one of the top par-five scorers in the field, the American was only able to muster a four-under par showing on the par-fives during his four rounds at Silverado Resort. To put that statistic into perspective, Kevin Tway, who was the eventual winner of the event, played his par-fives at eight-under par for the week. The four-time PGA Tour winner will be quickly back into action this week at the CIMB Classic. In Holmes' last showing at TPC Kuala Lumpur, he recorded a share of 49th place in 2014.
