Jamaal Williams Efficient But Quiet in Week 5
6 years agoGreen Bay Packers running back Jamaal Williams ran the ball six times in Week 5, accumulating 33 yards. He added two catches for 19 yards receiving. This was an unusually efficient day for Williams, who tends to grind out carries for about three yards a pop. Despite this efficiency, Williams’ fantasy value is plummeting. Although he is nominally the starter, he is splitting snaps with running backs Aaron Jones and Ty Montgomery. If Williams gets as little volume as he received against Detroit, he will not be a viable fantasy player. Green Bay fell behind early which caused Green Bay to move away from the run, but Aaron Jones has shown to be a significantly better runner and his role has increased each week since returning from a suspension in Week 3. Williams has disappointed this year and absent an injury to Jones, there doesn’t seem to be any path for him to turn things around. It may not be time to drop him quite yet, but we are getting close.
