DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (9/30/18): MLB DFS Lineups

It's a bittersweet day today, the final day of the MLB season. We get the fun of the postseason starting, but it's also our last day to play a full MLB slate! Every game starts between 3:05 and 3:20 PM EST today, meaning all 15 games are on DraftKings featured slate.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 9/30/18. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers

Noah Syndergaard, NYM (vs. MIA): $10,400

When healthy Syndergaard is a top tier pitcher and draws an easy matchup on this Sunday slate. The Marlins have a .293 wOBA and 23% strikeout rate as a team against right-handed pitching, as well as a league low .122 ISO. Compare that to Syndergaard’s 3.22 ERA, 2.86 FIP, and 3.82 K/BB ratio and it’s a wonder that he’s priced at $10,400.

Gio Gonzalez, MIL (vs. DET): $7,800

Gonzalez has a 2.66 ERA and 24.7% strikeout rate since coming to Milwaukee, and also draws a favorable matchup against the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers have a .314 wOBA and .143 ISO against left-handed pitching this season. The Tigers lineup has been getting worse and worse as the season has progressed due to injuries and trades, and there isn’t much to be afraid of in Detroit’s offense.

DraftKings DFS Infielders

C – Willians Astudillo, MIN (vs. CWS): $3,500

Astudillo has hit .353 with an .888 OPS in 89 PA this season for Minnesota, and his microscopic 3.4% strikeout rate should mean lots of balls-in-play against Dylan Covey. Covey only has a 17% strikeout rate himself and also has a 5.06 ERA and 4.57 SIERA. Astudillo has also been hitting third for Minnesota over the last few games and is a reasonable price in a good matchup.

1B – Dan Vogelbach, SEA (vs. TEX): $3,800

Vogelbach has usurped Ryon Healy over the last few weeks of the season and takes on a poor pitcher in Yovani Gallardo. Vogelbach has an .859 OPS and .213 ISO against right-handed pitching this season, while Gallardo has unable to get either rightes or lefties out this season. On the year Gallardo has a 6.40 ERA, 5.58 SIERA, and 1.2 K/BB ratio. Gallardo’s ineffectiveness as a pitcher makes it possible to fade Coors Field in favor of Seattle’s offense.

2B – Yoan Moncada, CWS (@ MIN): $3,900

Moncada is Chicago’s lead off hitter and they face a vulnerable opposing pitcher in this game. Twins’ starter Zac Littell has a 6.61 ERA, 5.36 SIERA, and 1.1 K/BB ratio over 16.1 innings between the bullpen and rotation. Littell has also surrendered three home runs in that time. Moncada has performed better against righties this season with a .746 OPS and .186 ISO on the year.

3B – Yolmer Sanchez, CWS (@ MIN): $3,600

Sanchez hits second right behind Moncada and the two pair well together in this matchup. Like Moncada, Sanchez performs better against righties with a .732 OPS and .154 ISO on the year. We’re also hoping for relatively low ownership on the top of Chicago’s lineup, which is certainly possible with Coors Field on the slate.

SS – Jean Segura, SEA (vs. TEX): $4,200

We definitely want to attack Yovani Gallardo as much as possible, and Segura allows us to do that as the Mariners’ number two hitter. Sandwiched between Mitch Haniger and Robinson Cano, Segura should have plenty of scoring opportunities in a matchup where Seattle is a -165 favorite.

DraftKings DFS Outfielders

Mitch Haniger, SEA (vs. TEX): $4,600
Nelson Cruz, SEA (vs. TEX): $4,100

These two hit lead off and cleanup for Seattle and are the two best power bats on the team. Haniger has busted out big time in 2018 with 26 homers and a .209 ISO on the season, while Cruz has done his usual thing with 37 homers and a .255 ISO this year. Haniger has been on fire the last two months, hitting .327 with a .934 OPS and .226 ISO since August 1. That’s bad news for Gallardo, who has allowed 1.61 HR/9 to right-handed batters this year.

Daniel Palka, CWS (@ MIN): $4,100

Palka is the White Sox’ number three hitter and best power hitter with Jose Abreu sidelined. He has 27 home runs and a .246 ISO in 441 PA this season. He has also been blistering hot in September with eight home runs and a .329 ISO this month. Palka is the meat to any White Sox stack and perfect to drive in Moncada and Sanchez.
