Jake Arrieta Falters Against Braves
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starter Jake Arrieta struggled Saturday, relinquishing four earned runs in only two innings against the Atlanta Braves. Arrieta drops to 10-10 on the season with a 3.94 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 7.3 K/9. The veteran hasn’t pitched well since the All-Star break, posting a 5.09 ERA in 12 starts. Arrieta has one start remaining September 27 when the Phillies visit the Colorado Rockies. Holding a 4.24 ERA on the road this season and 6.11 ERA lifetime at Coors Field, he’s not a mandatory start in that contest. Despite the second half woes, Arrieta has pitched well enough to earn SP3/4 consideration entering 2019.
