Peyton Barber Needs to Show Some Life Monday
6 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Barber has been a huge letdown to start the year. Through two weeks, Barber hasn't totaled 100 rushing yards despite carrying the ball 35 times and has only caught one pass for five yards. This is not the RB2 most owners were hoping to draft. Barber has a decent matchup against an average Pittsburgh defense that is better suited to stop the run than the pass. Barber shouldn't be expected to carry too heavy a load Monday given that the Steelers are favored and a pass-heavy script is expected for Tampa. He is not worth a start unless you're desperate. He, of course, could have a great game, but for now, that shouldn't be banked on. Barber only has his job because he blocks well and he had a great preseason. Ronald Jones II hasn't been active yet but will be knocking on the door if Barber continues to underperform. Barber's as good as waiver-wire fodder in shallower leagues if he can't step up soon.
