Travis Benjamin May Play Against Buffalo
6 years agoUpdating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin hasn't seen the field all week, but he may be active on Sunday, according to head coach Anthony Lynn. Benjamin has been sidelined with a foot injury and is officially listed as questionable, but Lynn told reporters on Friday that he is very optimistic about Benjamin's chances of playing against the Bills. While that is great news for Benjamin, it's a bit surprising since he's pretty much not needed and it seems like an odd time for a team to push a guy to return from injury extra quickly when they're so deep at his position. Benjamin will be competing for touches with a host of other fully healthy options like Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams, Mike Williams, Melvin Gordon, Austin Ekeler, and Antonio Gates. Four of those targets topped 80 yards receiving in Week 1, and Benjamin only hauled in one of five passes flung his way. Even if he does play, he's not a recommended start due to all these factors.
