Rex Burkhead Could Struggle Against Jaguars Defense
6 years agoNew England Patriots running back Rex Burkhead faces a tough matchup in Week 2 against the Jaguars and their elite defense. Burkhead registered 64 rushing yards in Week 1 and the Patriots are very thin at running back right now. Burkhead is also in concussion protocol and missed practice on Wednesday. If he suits up, he should see plenty of carries but production will be hard to come by against a Jaguars defense that allowed only seven rushing touchdowns all of last season. They did let the Giants Saquon Barkley bust off a 68-yard touchdown run in Week 1 but Burkhead does not possess the"home run ability" of the New York rookie. Burkhead could pump up his stats in the short passing game but will be no more than a RB3 for Week 2. His status will be up in the air the rest of the week and running back James White could benefit the most in the Patriots backfield.
