DraftKings DFS Starting Pitchers
Jose Berrios, MIN (vs KC) - $8,000
Berrios has had it rough lately, but he should turn things around with a cushy matchup against the Royals. Kansas City has just a .306 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Berrios is better suited for GPP contests because of his inconsistent tendencies, but he still possesses plenty of upside. He's got a nice 24.6% K-rate and has a good shot at landing a win against Jorge Lopez.
Matt Shoemaker, LAA (@ CWS) - $6,900
Shoemaker had a strong showing in his first start back from the disabled list in Texas, where he threw five scoreless innings. He shouldn't be on such a limited pitch count in his start tonight, and he has lots of strikeout potential against the White Sox. They have the second-highest K-rate in the league versus righties at 25.5%. You can get lots of value out of Shoemaker at this price.
DraftKings DFS Infielders
1B/OF - Eric Thames, MIL (vs SF) - $4,400
Thames has been on the bench for the last four Brewers games, but he should be back in the lineup tonight against a righty. Thames is always worth a look when he's at home in Miller Park, one of the best offensive environments in the league. Giants starter Chris Stratton has an awful 4.90 ERA with a poor 17.6% K-rate, so Thames and the Brewers should do some damage.
2B - Logan Forsythe, MIN (vs KC) - $3,100
Forsythe is one of the cheapest cleanup hitters you will ever find, coming in at punt-level prices. To be fair, he hasn't done much this year, but Forsythe can still get you some runs and RBIs against Jorge Lopez. Lopez has a 4.59 Deserved Run Average this year, so you can save some payroll with Forsythe and spend on other positions.
3B/1B - David Freese, LAD (@ COL) - $4,300
Freese is one of my favorite Coors bats tonight, assuming that he's in the lineup against a lefty. He's got a solid 119 wRC+ against southpaws this year and can give you great production in the best hitter's park in all of baseball. For a guy at Coors, he's not too expensive.
SS - Andrelton Simmons, LAA (@ CWS) - $4,100
Simmons has homered in each of his last two games and could very well do so again versus James Shields. Even if he doesn't go deep, Simmons can easily make himself a worthwhile play, as Shields has a 4.78 FIP in 2018. Consider rolling out Simmons with some of his Angels teammates for a stack.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Andrew McCutchen, NYY (@ SEA) - $3,800
The move to New York was awesome for McCutchen's fantasy value, as he now bats third in one of the most high-powered offenses. Cutch has an .821 OPS over the last 15 days and faces a weak opponent in Felix Hernandez, owner of a 5.55 ERA. The Yankees should have a big night, and McCutchen will likely be involved.
A.J. Pollock, ARI (vs ATL) - $4,000
Now is the time to buy low on Pollock as a contrarian pick, as he still has a good power/speed combo and can get you counting stats in the DBacks lineup. Braves starter Julio Teheran has an awful 4.88 FIP, so Arizona should have a good showing.
Nick Markakis, MIN (@ ARI) - $4,100
Sorry, but I don't believe in the success of Clay Buchholz, as his 20.4% K-rate shows that he's not dominating many batters - his 4.09 SIERA is a more accurate representation of his skills. Except some RBIs out of Markakis from Atlanta's cleanup spot.
