Jake Arrieta Strikes Out 11 For 10th Win
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starter Jake Arrieta benefitted from early run support Tuesday night en route to a victory over the Miami Marlins. Pitching at Marlins Park, the former Cy Young winner went 7 1/3 innings, allowing three runs through the first seven before surrendering a home run to lead off the eighth. After recording one final strikeout, he was pulled by manager Gabe Kapler. In all, Arrieta allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks. The 32-year-old also reached base with a walk as he picked up his 10th win of the season. The Phillies continue to fight for the NL East, although they find themselves three games behind the Atlanta Braves.
