BALLER MOVE: Target ~170
CURRENT ADP: ~190
ANALYSIS: Entering his rookie season, Mike Gesicki should have an immediate impact in the Dolphins lineup. With the departure of Jarvis Landry to the Browns, and the return of Ryan Tannehill, the offense will look much different in 2018.
Currently Gesicki is not even being drafted in normal redraft leagues, and is a great late-round tight end to help ensure the end of your roster is stacked. At 6’5 and 250 lbs. he was seen as the most athletic tight end coming out of the draft. Although not a blocking tight end, this fact will work well for fantasy owners as he will be asked to run routes instead of staying in to block.
The Dolphins should have a dismal season which will allow for the passing game to be heavily involved, especially if the running game falters behind an aging Frank Gore and Kenyon Drake. The offensive line is rebuilding making the need for Tannehill to dump off to the tight end more likely. Look for Gesicki to have a season that could see him finish in the top-12 at the position, which in 2017 would have him around the 48 receptions, 591 yards and six touchdowns put up by Cameron Brate.
