Francisco Arcia In Line For Starting Catcher Role
6 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels let veteran catcher Rene Rivera go on waivers, where he was claimed by the Atlanta Braves. With Rivera gone, the Angels primary backstop will be rookie Francisco Arcia, with Jose Briceno likely serving as the backup. Arcia is slashing .280/.321/.520 with three home runs and 15 RBI in 21 games. He is now worth a look in deeper formats and two-catcher leagues with the added playing time. Briceno has played well this year as well, but is likely going to be a backup and therefore not fantasy relevant.
