Masahiro Tanaka Stumbles Late For Fifth Loss
6 years agoHeading back to the Bronx riding a four-game winning streak, New York Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka failed to extend the streak Monday night against the Chicago White Sox. The 29-year-old started out well, tossing five scoreless innings to start while his offense provided two runs. Along the way, the Japanese starter even escaped a bases-loaded, no-outs jam to keep the scoreless performance intact. In the sixth, however, he stumbled and eventually surrendered four runs in his last two innings of work. This snaps a small streak of two consecutive quality starts for Tanaka, who now has a 9-5 record. Additionally, this was Tanaka's third consecutive defeat at Yankee Stadium.
