Henrik Zetterberg Could Miss Entire 2018-19 Season
6 years agoDetroit Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg (back) has still not been able to train this summer. His back has given him trouble for the past several years, but the last few months have been especially bad. Red Wings head coach Jeff Blashill said, per NHL.com, "All signs indicate to me right now that it'll be very difficult for Henrik to be cleared to play". This is sad news for Red Wings fans and fantasy players alike, as it seems that Zetterberg's great career may be coming to an end. His absence would open up a big hole at center, as he was the second leading scorer on the team last season (11G, 45A). Dylan Larkin is clearly the top center while Frans Nielsen, Andreas Athanasiou, and Luke Glendening will all likely see time in the middle. Zetterberg's absence would also open up another roster spot for a young player like Michael Rasmussen or Filip Zadina. While Zetterberg still has three years left on his contract, it looks like he'll have to finish out the deal on injury reserve. He can be avoided in all fantasy formats.
