6 years agoHouston Astros starter Justin Verlander picked up the 200th win of his career in the Astros 9-4 win on Sunday over the A's. The Astros were desperate for a victory and their ace made it happen, allowing four runs and striking out six in 5 1/3 innings. Verlander (12-8) has been shaky, at times, recently and still carries a 5.67 ERA over his last four starts. But the right-hander still has 33 strikeouts over his last 21 innings pitched and continues to show top-level stuff on the mound. Verlander for the season now has 223 strikeouts through 169 2/3 innings with a 0.93 WHIP this season.--Joey C - RotoBaller
