Nathan Peterman Efficient in Closing Out Bills Victory
Nathan Peterman is now fully in the hunt for the starter's role. A.J. McCarron's early-game shoulder injury Friday against the Cleveland Browns has appeared to clear a path for either Peterman or strong-armed rookie Josh Allen to take on Week 1 duties. Peterman, although extremely limited, (two games started in 2017 rookie season, 24-for-49 for 252 yards, two scores, five interceptions) has more in-game experience then Allen and perhaps has more playbook knowledge than the younger Allen. Peterman's performance in the 19-17 victory can only enhance his chances for this open competition. He was eight of 10 for 113 yards, a score and no interceptions. Allen's skill set is superior to the more conservative Peterman (comparatively speaking of course). The next two preseason games will be crucial in determining the starter. At this point, given the fact that these players are still developing, neither QB should be considered in 12-team standard leagues.

Raiders Release Nathan Peterman
Nathan Peterman on Tuesday, according to a source. Peterman only lasted two weeks on the Raiders roster while Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O'Connell were still competing for the starting role under center. With Peterman now out of the picture, Vegas will roll with Minshew as the starter, O'Connell as the backup and rookie Carter Bradley as the QB3 for the Week 1 regular-season opener against the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers. In the preseason finale, the 30-year-old veteran went 12-for-19 for 108 yards and a touchdown. The journeyman backup QB started his career with the Buffalo Bills after they took him in the fifth round in 2017 out of Pittsburgh. Peterman has played in only 15 games (five starts) in his six years in the NFL and has 712 yards passing, four touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Nathan Peterman's Fantasy Impact Remains Limited Amidst Raiders' QB Battle
Nathan Peterman completed 12-of-19 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his poise and experience in Friday’s 24-24 tie to the San Francisco 49ers. Despite this, his path to fantasy relevance remains obstructed by Aidan O'Connell, who seems to have the inside track for the backup quarterback position behind Gardner Minshew II. Peterman's familiarity with the Raiders could aid his case for a roster spot, but from a fantasy perspective, this performance doesn't elevate him beyond a deep-league watchlist candidate. Even if secured, his role projects to be behind O'Connell, rendering Peterman largely irrelevant for fantasy rosters unless significant changes or injuries alter the depth chart. Fantasy managers should monitor the situation, but Peterman's fantasy impact looks minimal for the upcoming season.

Raiders Sign Nathan Peterman
Nathan Peterman to an undisclosed deal on Tuesday. Peterman rejoins the Raiders after recently being cut in training camp by the New Orleans Saints. The 30-year-old former fifth-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2017 spent two years with the Raiders from 2020-21 and went 3-for-5 for 25 yards in just two games played in that span. He has gone 85-for-160 for 712 yards, four touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 15 games (five starts) in his six seasons in the NFL. In Vegas, he'll be competing for the No. 3 role with Anthony Brown Jr. as Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell battle for the starting gig under center to kick off the 2024 regular season in early September.

Peterman, a former fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2017, has played in 13 games (five starts) in his NFL career with the Bills, Las Vegas Raiders and Bears and has thrown for 712 yards, four touchdowns and 13 interceptions over five seasons.
