BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 36% of leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo needs to be owned in more leagues, plain and simple. In 2018, he has a .265/.387/.503 slash line, chipping in 15 homers, 39 RBI, 65 runs scored, and eight stolen bases. Make no mistake, an on-base percentage of .387 is absolutely elite, ranking 13th in the MLB among qualified hitters. His ability to hit for power is backed up by his .238 ISO, which comes in at 23rd in the MLB. One of the reasons for Nimmo's high on-base percentage is his impressive 12.4% walk rate, which is 22nd in the MLB. However, this is accompanied by a horrible 28.6% strikeout rate. He's making hard contact 38.9% of the time (highest in his young career) and ranks 48th in the MLB in average exit velocity at 90.5 MPH. A case can be made for Nimmo having a "lucky" season, as his .360 BABIP is extremely high - only seven hitters have a higher BABIP in 2018. Projection site Steamer seems to agree, predicting a .312 BABIP to go along with a .237 batting average the rest of the way. Recent form-wise, there haven't been too many hitters matching Nimmo's production. Over his last seven games, he is slashing .556/.636/1.111, good for a 1.747 OPS. In the last 14 days, only four players in the MLB have a higher OPS than Nimmo's mark of 1.194. If a player with 15 homers and top-25 ranks in OBP, ISO, and walk rate peaks your interest - Brandon Nimmo is absolutely your guy. He's well worth a look in 12+ team and NL-only leagues.
