Wilson Ramos Starting For Phillies Wednesday
6 years agoAt long last, Philadelphia Phillies catcher Wilson Ramos will make his team debut against the Boston Red Sox Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. The All-Star was acquired from Tampa Bay prior to the trade deadline but had been on the disabled list since mid-July with a left hamstring strain. With his return, Jorge Alfaro has been relegated to a backup role, while Andrew Knapp has been sent down to Triple-A. In 78 games with the Rays this season, the 31-year-old Ramos hit .297 with 14 home runs and 53 RBI, seemingly well on his way to a career season. Prior to his stint in Tampa, he spent the majority of his career with the Washington Nationals, so he should feel right at home back in the NL East with the Phillies. On Wednesday, he’ll catch Vince Velasquez and bat sixth.
