Thomas Pieters Makes Late Charge At Bellerive
6 years agoThomas Pieters attempted a mad-dash rally during his back nine at the PGA Championship but came up short after double-bogeying the 17th hole. The big-hitting Belgian birdied holes 14,15 and 16 to find himself a few strokes off the lead when entering the 17th hole but a drive into the water at the par-five 17th mixed with a third shot that also found its way into the hazard dropped Pieters down to 10-under par and into a share of sixth place. The 26-year-old spent most of his time in Europe this year and will not be apart of the FedExCup Playoffs. After falling 48 spots in the Official World Golf Rankings at one point this season, Pieters has managed to claw his way back up to 58th in the world.
