Latavius Murray Could Be Valuable Handcuff This Season
6 years agoMinnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer has said there is a competition for the RB1 spot on the team. This statement can be taken with a grain of salt, as it is still incredibly likely that Dalvin Cook will be getting the majority of the reps. Regardless, Latavius Murray has shown up to training camp looking great and feeling healthy. The 28-year-old was explosive in the Vikings preseason opener, carrying the ball four times for 48 yards, including back-to-back runs of 21 yards. Zimmer has sung praises for both of the talented running backs throughout training camp, and it seems that both will get a decent amount of touches. Murray may be a valuable handcuff for Cook owners, especially if he ends up becoming a TD vulture in short red-zone situations. It seems apparent that Murray will still have a significant role in the Vikings offense, although what that role is still remains to be seen.
