6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy received an anti-inflammatory injection after dealing with some shoulder stiffness this weekend. Duffy is currently scheduled to start on Thursday, but that may be in jeopardy now due to the ailment. Manager Ned Yost revealed that Duffy's actually been dealing with the issue for his last four starts, which coincidentally have included him allowing 19 earned runs in 22 2/3 innings. Prior to the recent rough patch, Duffy had thrown quality starts in five of his previous six appearances, so it looks like the injury is the most likely thing holding him back. With the team having an atrocious season, it wouldn't be surprising if they are overly cautious with the injury. Though it's not being discussed publicly at the moment, an injury like this could mean an early end to Duffy's season.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
