Joey Lucchesi Fans Nine At Wrigley
6 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Joey Lucchesi gave up three runs (two earned) while striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. The southpaw surrendered seven hits and walked none in the no-decision. Despite the decent showing, Lucchesi’s endurance was again an issue with Sunday marking his 13th consecutive start without completing six frames. Innings limitations aside, Lucchesi has enjoyed an impressive rookie campaign with a 3.70 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 9.5 K/9 in 17 starts. He’s established himself as a reliable big league starter and holds weekly fantasy value if owners can stomach the lack of quality starts. He’ll take on the Philadelphia Phillies next Saturday at home where he’s struggled with a 4.21 ERA.
