BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 38% of leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Mets starting pitcher Zack Wheeler has three quality starts in his last five after throwing six scoreless innings against the Pirates on July 27. While he struck out only three batters in his win over the Padres on July 24 (where he pitched seven innings), but he has struck out seven batters or more in three of his previous four starts.
He is only 5-6 this season, but he his 4.11 ERA is supported by a 3.58 FIP, as his .304 BABIP and 71% strand rate show that he is unlucky. While he has won each of this last three starts, pitching for the Mets has not helped him in the way of the wins, as he had no-decisions in quality starts against the Pirates on June 27 and Blue Jays on July 3.
Wheeler will pitch on Saturday against the Braves at home, which is not a great matchup, but, looking forward to next week, he will face the Marlins in Miami next Friday. Considering that the Marlins are not a good offensive team and Marlins Park is not a hitter's park, this is a good matchup for Wheeler. Even as a one-start pitcher next week, Wheeler is a good addition in even shallow leagues.
