BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 47% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Kyle Gibson is coming off of two tough starts against Boston and Cleveland, but threw six innings against the Indians on July 31, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out six. This gives Gibson five straight starts with five strikeouts and saw him finish July with a 3-2 record and 3.43 ERA. He struck out 39 in July, walking 13 and putting up a solid 43.8% GB rate in 39 1/3 innings.
Gibson is just 5-8 this season, but he has a 3.47 ERA and 132 strikeouts in 135 innings pitched, allowing 106 hits and posting a career-best 1.21 WHIP. He had a 3.25 FIP in July, posting a 71.8% strand rate and allowing just one home run in his last four starts.
Gibson will continue is relentless schedule, facing the Indians in Cleveland on Monday, before finally getting an easier matchup in Detroit against the Tigers next weekend. Considering that Gibson has kept his head above water against strong offenses, a start against a weaker offense in Detroit should be a welcome sight for fantasy owners. He should be owned in all leagues and started in 12+ team leagues.
