Eric Hosmer Possibly Turning A Corner
6 years agoSan Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer extended his hitting streak to eight games on Tuesday, going 1-for-3 with an RBI double. Since his average troughed at .245 on July 22, Hosmer's batted .345 (10-for-29) during his streak. The Padres were awful in July and Hosmer has likely contributed to the team's woes, with just four extra-base hits and a .453 OPS for the month. After a solid start to the year, Hosmer's season has been a broad disappointment, slashing .252/.319/.387 with 10 homers, 46 runs and 43 RBI. Hosmer's fallen out of the top-25 first basemen in standard leagues and his ownership is still too high. He'll need to start August strong to reenter the fantasy discussion.
