German Marquez Finishes Off Oakland
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez took the mound on Sunday with a lot on the line. First, the Rockies were poised for the sweep over the Athletics. Second, Colorado was just a half-game out of being tied for the second wild card spot in the NL. And lastly, the Rockies were on pace to set a franchise record for best home ERA for an entire month. Marquez got the job done so all three became a reality. Marquez went 7 2/3 innings while only allowing two runs, and his bullpen finished off the A's to give him the win. It lowered the team's July ERA to a staggering 1.71 for the month, demolishing the previous record of 2.80 for a month at home. Marquez has quality starts in four of his last five outings, and he's a great risk for many fantasy owners to take right now.
