Tampa Bay Rays reliever Austin Pruitt earned the save Thursday versus Baltimore. He finished the final 1 1/3 innings of the 4-3 victory. It was only his second save of the season.Pruitt struck out three of the four batters he faced, which is likely a gratifying result after fighting his way back from another stint in the minors. It is unclear what we should take from this save as Sergio Romo was also used earlier in the game. It is more likely that the key takeaway is that the Rays are willing to deploy Romo whenever they think is the key point late in the game. While this means that there could be some available save opportunities created when Romo is used earlier in a game, remember that Jose Alvarado is also an option.--Jamie Mellor
