Masahiro Tanaka Tosses Complete-Game Shutout
6 years agoAfter Luis Severino stumbled again on Monday, the New York Yankees got a much-needed pitching gem from their No. 2 starter. Masahiro Tanaka, the club’s ace right until Severino became who he now is, went the distance in Tampa Bay Tuesday night. He allowed just three hits, walking one and striking out nine, tying his season high. It was Tanaka’s fifth consecutive start on the road and his first start against the Rays this season. The performance came on the heels of allowing only two runs in 6 1/3 innings against the Cleveland Indians his last time out, perhaps indicating he’s headed in the right direction. Since he arrived in New York, no Yankees starter has more shutouts than him.
