Luis Castillo Turns In Encouraging Start Monday
6 years agoCincinnati Reds starting pitcher Luis Castillo started the second half of the season on the right foot in Monday's start against the Cardinals. Castillo allowed just one run on four hits and a walk with five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. The 25-year-old has been mightily disappointing this season and now has a 5-8 record with a 5.30 ERA through 21 starts. However, he has looked better in July and his 14% swinging strike rate on the season is good for sixth-highest amongst starters, so fantasy owners should not abandon all hope. Castillo's next start is scheduled for Sunday against a decent Phillies matchup.
