Francisco Liriano Struggles Against Royals
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Francisco Liriano was disappointing yet again on Monday night, throwing just 4 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and three earned runs. He struck out six but also walked three batters as he struggled with his control all evening, throwing just 55 of his 95 pitches for strikes. He also hit a batter and threw a wild pitch, but the Tigers shrugged off Liriano's weak start by scoring three runs in the ninth inning to win 5-4. Liriano now holds a rough 4.73 ERA and has not picked up a win since April 28. He is 3-5 after Monday's no decision and holds an awful 69/48 K/BB ratio in 83 2/3 innings. As such, he can be safely left on the waiver wire in all fantasy leagues.
