Giancarlo Stanton’s Heroics Not Enough
6 years agoIf there’s one opposing player the Tampa Bay Rays do not want to face at home at the moment, it’s New York Yankees outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. The 2017 NL MVP recorded four hits in four tries Monday night, now having recorded nine consecutive hits at Tropicana Field. He had one last plate appearance in the ninth but would be walked intentionally to load the bases. While three of those four hits were singles, the shot in the seventh drove in two runs, cutting his club’s lead to one run, where it would remain to the end of the game. Aside from his terrific form at Tropicana Field, the 28-year-old has been much better overall as of late, hitting .347 with seven home runs and 22 RBI across his last 30 games.
