6 years agoHouston Astros starter Charlie Morton will replace the Yankees' Aroldis Chapman on the American League All-Star team. This is a huge feather in the cap as a first-time All-Star for the 34-year-old right-hander. Morton has come a long way since going 2-12 with a 7.57 ERA in 2010 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He really found his stride last season, winning 14 games and striking out 163 hitters in 146 2/3 innings pitched. Morton came up huge in the World Series last season, posting a 1.74 ERA over 10 1/3 innings en route to a championship. The veteran has elevated his game even more this season, starting off the season white-hot and now owns the team lead in wins with 11. Morton is having a career season with a 2.96 ERA, 11.7 K/9 and a career-low 6.73 H/9 through his first 19 starts this season. The All-Star nod is much deserved and Morton has followed through on the promise he showed last season to become a quality fantasy asset.--Joey C - RotoBaller
