Carlos Santana Back In Terrible Slump
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies first baseman Carlos Santana has been one of the worst free-agent acquisitions of the season, as he’s well on his way to a career-worst year. The 32-year-old went hitless from the leadoff spot in four plate appearances Wednesday night as the Phillies were shut out in a 10-inning defeat. Across his last seven games, he’s recorded just two hits, continuing what has been a season-long form. Santana is hitting just .216 this season, easily the worst mark of his career. The July woes are especially disappointing considering the fact that it appeared he’d turned a corner after May. Hitting .281 in June, the Dominican native seemed to be back on track but never capitalized on that stretch.
