Oscar De La Cruz Suspended 80 Games
6 years agoChicago Cubs pitching prospect Oscar De La Cruz has been suspended 80 games for violating Major League Baseball's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. De La Cruz tested positive for the diuretic and masking agent Furosemide, the same drug Robinson Cano was suspended for using. De La Cruz is third on MLB Pipeline's top 30 Cubs prospects, but whatever performance-enhancer he was trying to mask was clearly not working very well. The 23-year-old has struggled so far in 2018 and boasts a 5.24 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 77 1/3 innings in 16 starts.
