Justin Verlander Will Try To Get Back In Win Column
6 years agoHouston Astros starter Justin Verlander will look to get back on track Thursday against the White Sox. Verlander is having a fantastic season but has lost his past two starts. This is the first bump in the road for the veteran this season, and he has allowed nine runs over his last 11 2/3 innings pitched. The right-hander had not allowed more than three earned runs in a start all season but has been hit around a touch by the Blue Jays and Rays over his past two turns in the rotation. He will go up against an old adversary on Thursday against the White Sox. He will have to be careful with slugger Jose Abreu on Thursday. The first baseman is hitting .395 lifetime against Verlander in 39 at-bats with five home runs. For the season, Verlander is 9-4 with a 2.12 ERA and 144 strikeouts in 118 2/3 innings pitched.
