Astros Hope Brian McCann Can Return In September
6 years agoHouston Astros catcher Brian McCann underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, per mlb.com. The team hopes he can return sometime in September, which is longer than the original four- to six-week timetable first reported. McCann has battled knee issues on and off over the past few seasons with an occasional disabled list stint to manage the pain. McCann has 10 seasons of 20-plus home runs but has really struggled at the plate this season. In 155 at-bats, the veteran backstop is slashing only .206/.283/.323 with three doubles, five home runs and 17 runs batted in. Max Stassi is expected to do most of the catching for Houston in the meantime.
