Greg Bird Comes Up Short In Major Spot
6 years agoNew York Yankees first baseman Greg Bird once again disappointed Monday night for the club as they lost to the Atlanta Braves in extra innings. In four plate appearances, the 25-year-old managed one hit, walking once and striking out twice. His key moment of the game, however, came in the 10th inning, as he stepped up with the bases loaded and two outs. With a left-handed pitcher on the mound, manager Aaron Boone could’ve gone with Brandon Drury, but opted to remain with Bird, who struck out as the Yankees blew a golden chance. Bird is now hitting .198, as Drury seems poised for more starts as the former continues to struggle.
