6 years agoThe Boston Bruins have brought in goaltender Jaroslav Halak to back up Tuukka Rask in the wake of Anton Khudobin’s departure. Halak spent the last four years with the New York Islanders with what was the most lucrative contract of his career. Halak’s annual cap hit will be 2.75 million in Boston. More used to being a starter, Halak had seen Thomas Greiss provide stiff competition for crease time in New York. In Boston, the role will likely be defined as a clear cut backup; Rask has played no fewer than 54 games in each of his last five seasons. Halak’s level of play is not what it once was; his goals against average was over 3.00 for the first time in his career.
