6 years agoColorado Rockies backup infielder Pat Valaika has had a dreadful season so far this year, but when he got a surprise start on Friday, he took full advantage by blasting his first home run of 2018 off Rich Hill. The solo shot stood as the game's only run into the 8th inning, and the Rockies would hang on to win it 3-1. Valaika flashed some power last season in a backup role, so everyone knows it's there.
