Los Angeles Angels starter and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani has been cleared to begin hitting immediately. He will be re-evaluated in three weeks for a better prognosis for when he will return to the mound. Ohtani is expected to be back in the lineup at DH soon. This will push Albert Pujols into full-time duty at first base, with Luis Valbuena remaining the full-time third baseman in Zack Cozart's absence. Ohtani owners will want to get him into their lineups as soon as possible.--patton

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani connected on his ninth home run of the season on Monday night against the Marlins. He went 1-for-4 with his two-run home run in the fifth inning and also had a walk and a stolen base before scoring on Freddie Freeman's home run in the third. After his record-setting season with 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases last year, Ohtani now has nine home runs and 10 stolen bases through his first 33 games this year, just slightly below last year's pace. He is hitting .292 with a .420 wOBA and continues to be one of the best players in all of fantasy baseball.--Zach Thompson - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani went 3-for-4 with a home run and a walk during their victory over the Atlanta Braves on Saturday evening. Ohtani would launch his eighth home run of the campaign in the third inning off Atlanta right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach. The reigning NL MVP has begun to see his offensive production increase over the past week. In his last seven games, the 30-year-old has posted an impressive .407/.529/.889 slash line with three doubles, two triples, two long balls, and four stolen bases. Prior to this stretch, Ohtani held a .260/.355/.479 through his first 24 games of the season. Ohtani has generated an elite .451 xwOBA, which suggests he should continue to see his offensive production climb throughout the summer. He will look to continue this impressive stretch on Sunday against Atlanta right-hander Bryce Elder.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani (elbow) threw his first bullpen session last Saturday since going on paternity leave last week. Ohtani threw 31 pitches, according to manager Dave Roberts, and is still only throwing four-seamers, two-seamers and splitters. He will not face live hitters until he begins working in all of his pitches. But Roberts said that Ohtani is expected to resume throwing light side sessions on Wednesdays, followed by a full bullpen every Saturday. The timeline for the 30-year-old to return to the mound remains indefinite, although the Dodgers had previously been aiming for sometime in May. He's recovering from a right UCL repair he had in September of 2023, and he didn't have a full offseason to build up on the mound due to left-labrum surgery last November. Ohtani will likely be eased into a starting role when he eventually returns as a pitcher, but he'll be fantasy relevant in all leagues.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani went 1-for-4 with a home run and a stolen base in his team's 15-2 victory over the Miami Marlins. He added a walk, two strikeouts, and two runs scored. Ohtani blasted a 114.1 MPH solo shot to lead off the bottom of the first inning -- qualifying for his hardest hit ball of the season thus far. It was also the first time he hit a home run and stole a base in the same game this year, as he's started to pick it up in recent days. The superstar slugger is riding a four-game hit streak in which he's 7-for-15 (.467) with five extra-base hits (three doubles, one triple), three steals, and six runs scored. Ohtani has driven in just ten runs on the campaign, but he leads the league with 29 runs scored in 28 games.--Alex Ciulla
