Drew Pomeranz Set to Begin Rehab Stint on Monday
7 years agoBoston Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz threw a simulated game on Wednesday and is expected to go to Triple-A Pawtucket to start a rehab assignment on Monday. This suggests that Pomeranz should be returning in the near future. Regardless, he has been a volatile fantasy asset this season as the lefty has a 1-3 record with a 6.81 ERA through eight starts. While he has a fantastic team backing him up, he should be a fantasy afterthought until he shows some consistency on the mound.

Mariners Sign Drew Pomeranz To A Minor-League Deal
4 months agoThe Seattle Mariners have signed pitcher Drew Pomeranz to a minor-league contract. Pomeranz hasn't pitched in the majors since 2021 when he underwent Tommy John surgery and experienced setbacks in his recovery efforts. The 2024 season was spent in the Dodgers' organization, although the lefty tossed only nine innings for the Triple-A affiliate. The veteran will likely need to prove he's still got something left in the tank before we see him in the majors in 2025, so for now he doesn't move the needle for fantasy. Once upon a time in 2016, the now-36-year-old was an All-Star, so perhaps if he's 100% healthy then there could be something there. For his career, Pomeranz has a 3.91 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 14.0% K-BB% which is a tad low due to his tendency to walk batters at an above-average rate.

Drew Pomeranz Signs With Giants
10 months agoThe San Francisco Giants have signed relief pitcher Drew Pomeranz to a one-year deal. The veteran southpaw was released by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday. Pomeranz struggled to the tune of a 6.00 ERA in eight appearances for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 35-year-old hasn't pitched in the majors since 2021 due to multiple injuries. This is a low-risk signing for the Giants to see if Pomeranz has anything left in the tank.

Dodgers Sign Drew Pomeranz To Minor-League Deal
1 year agoThe Los Angeles Dodgers signed free-agent left-hander Drew Pomeranz to a minor-league deal on Friday, and he's set to be assigned to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The nine-year major-league veteran reliever has been beleaguered by injuries the last two years. Pomeranz was with the Los Angeles Angels in spring training but was recently released. The 35-year-old southpaw hasn't pitched in the majors since 2021 with the San Diego Padres due to injuries, when he was outstanding with a 1.75 ERA (3.01 FIP) and 1.13 WHIP with 10 walks and 30 strikeouts in 25 2/3 relief innings. He'll bring plenty of relief experience to the organization, but nobody should be expecting him to contribute much at the major-league level given his struggles with injuries in recent seasons.

Drew Pomeranz Says He's A "Full-Go" At Camp
1 year agoLos Angeles Angels left-handed reliever Drew Pomeranz (elbow), who is in spring training on a minor-league deal, said he's "full-go" in his effort to return to the majors for the first time since 2021. Pomeranz had elbow surgery in August of 2021 and has dealt with several setbacks since. "Pushing from bullpens to game speed is where I had real trouble," Pomeranz said. "I kept getting reinjured and reinjured. It's pretty frustrating trying to figure out what's going on… I feel good right now, probably the same point I would have in any spring training coming in." Anything the Angels manage to get out of the 35-year-old veteran southpaw in 2024 would be gravy. Although he had a 1.75 ERA in 2021 before his injury, Pomeranz shouldn't be drafted in any fantasy leagues this spring.
