Jake Arrieta Still Can’t Right The Ship
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta has had a nightmare month of June and he still can’t seem to get on track following another loss to the New York Yankees on Tuesday night. The former Chicago Cubs starter was charged with six runs on nine hits in five innings, walking one but striking out five. After a masterful 0.90 ERA in May, Arrieta now has a 6.66 ERA this month, having allowed five runs or more in four of his last five starts. Without him pitching at his best, the Phillies will continue to struggle as they continue to remain on the outside looking in for the final spot in the National League wild-card picture. The loss moves Arrieta’s record to 5-6, while his ERA is now up to 3.54.
