Aaron Hicks' Leadoff Home Run Sets Up Yankees Victory
6 years agoWith Brett Gardner having the night off, the New York Yankees started Aaron Hicks in center and had him bat leadoff in the club’s second game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Leading off Tuesday’s game at Citizens Bank Park, the 28-year-old drilled a home run to center, later driving in another run with a sacrifice fly as the Yankees won 6-0. The two-hit, two-RBI performance was direly needed from Hicks, who has struggled as of late. While he’s hitting .207 across his last 15 games, June has been his best month of the season with a .268 batting average. Hicks has the starting center field job locked down, so he’ll have the time necessary to get back on track.
