The Washington Wizards have acquired guard Austin Rivers from the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for center Marcin Gortat. There are two main fantasy takeaways from this deal for the Wizards. First, Rivers should step into the role as the third guard off the bench. He's coming off his best statistical season in the NBA as he averaged 15.1 points and 4.0 assists per game while shooting a career-high 37.8 percent from three. After backup point guard Tomas Satoransky barely saw the floor in three of Washington's six playoff games, it was clear the team needed to make an upgrade at the position. Expect Rivers to see a dip in his overall numbers as he moves to the bench, but he should still be a productive fantasy player who'll be available late in drafts. Meanwhile, the Wizards have put themselves into position to make a move for a cheap center in free agency to fill Gortat's role. With Gortat showing signs of decline last season, there's a good chance that whoever they bring in will be an improvement from a fantasy perspective. As of now, the only center on the roster is Ian Mahinmi, who is set to make $15 million next season but hasn't shown enough to be the full-time starter on a Wizards team that still believes they're contenders.--Justin Carter - RotoBaller
