Brad Keller Dominates Angels
6 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Brad Keller tossed seven shutout innings to seal a win over the Angels on Monday. In just his fifth major league start, Keller looked rock solid, as he only allowed two hits. Keller looks like he has potential, but some rocky times are probably ahead first. Keller's 2.45 starting ERA is nice, but his K/BB ratio of 5.9 would be the second worst among qualified starters in the league. Only two of the 10 worst rates have an ERA under 4.50. He's also stranding 80 percent of runners who reach base and as that strand rate normalizes, Keller's stuffing of the bases is going to catch up with him. Outings like Monday's imply potential, but his xFIP of 4.26 seems like a more likely landing spot for his ERA than its current location.
