Rasmus Sandin Selected By Maple Leafs In First Round
6 years agoThe Toronto Maple Leafs selected defenseman Rasmus Sandin of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds with the 29th overall pick. The Maple Leafs traded down from 25th overall, stating confidence that one of the players they wanted would be available. In 51 OHL games last season, Sandin potted 12 goals and 45 points, adding another 13 points in 24 postseason games. At 5-foot-11, 183 pounds, there is still room for him to fill out to reach average NHL defense size. Sandin is an intelligent player who shows poise and vision with the puck and can create opportunities for his teammates. Sandin came to the Greyhounds via a loan from Rogle BK of the Swedish Hockey League, with whom he is still under contract. Sandin can either return to Sault Ste. Marie or to Rogle, where he’ll have a spot on the men’s team.
