Vince Velasquez Strong But Outmatched By Rookie
6 years agoHosting the American League powerhouse New York Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies got the kind of pitching performance they hoped for. Vince Velasquez, Monday’s starting pitcher, went six innings, allowing just two runs on three hits. Once again he dealt with command issues, walking four batters while also striking out seven. With 96 pitches under his belt he was pulled, ultimately taking home his eighth loss of the season. This continues a rough month of June for Velasquez, whose career continues to be a pattern. The 26-year-old has three quality starts this month but also a pair of ugly outings in between.
