2018 Shaping Up As Breakout Year For Jamison Crowder?
7 years agoWashington Redskins wide receiver Jamison Crowder has developed excellent chemistry and trust with new quarterback Alex Smith, and all signs are pointing toward 2018 being a breakout season for the slot receiver. Crowder is entering the final year of his contract and should have room to work underneath with Josh Doctson and Paul Richardson both able to stretch the field deep. Crowder was pegged as a breakout candidate last year, too, but hamstring issues slowed him down throughout the season. As a result, he focused on his entire body in the offseason and did more power cleans and hang cleans in the weight room. “When I was at Duke, I didn’t have hamstring issues, maybe one or two, so I went back and did more dynamic lifts that I did in college,” Crowder said. “I feel great now ... It was frustrating [last year]. When you go out there with a lingering injury, you’re already setting yourself behind.” Smith and Crowder already seem to be best buds on the football field, and it wouldn't be a surprise if Crowder quickly became Smith's go-to target over the middle. In the past five seasons, Smith has a combined 102.8 quarterback rating when targeting slot receivers, which is third best over that time for QBs with at least 30 starts.
