Masahiro Tanaka Throws Successful Bullpen Session
6 years agoThe New York Yankees received some positive news Sunday morning as they prepare to wrap up a road series in Tampa Bay against the Rays. Masahiro Tanaka, out since June 8th after injuring both his hamstrings running home on a sacrifice fly, tossed a successful bullpen session. The 29-year-old tossed 26 pitches, explaining he was initially cautious but felt no discomfort. According to manager Aaron Boone, Tanaka’s next step will be tossing off a mound, which will come Tuesday at the club’s spring training complex. Should that go without any setbacks, he’ll throw a simulated game on Friday. The Japanese native has made 13 starts this season, going 7-2 with a 4.58 ERA.
