Cleveland Selects Collin Sexton With Eighth Pick
6 years agoThe Cleveland Cavaliers have selected Alabama point guard Collin Sexton with the eighth pick in the 2018 NBA Draft. After trading Kyrie Irving to Boston before the 2017 season, the Cavaliers were in need of a point guard with upside, and they'll hope that they've gotten that in Sexton. Sexton averaged 19.2 points per game last season for the Crimson Tide, but he isn't a great passer and took too many midrange jumpers in college. He's a competitive player who has shown an ability to get to the rim and his passing issues could be overlooked if LeBron James returns to Cleveland, but a LeBron-less Cavaliers team with Sexton as its primary ball-handler could struggle with turnovers. He has major bust potential in fantasy next season, but he could carve out a role on many rosters if Cleveland asks him to shoulder the scoring load. Like everything else in Cleveland, so much depends on what happens with James.
